‘Baddest MF’: Analyst Claims Joel Embiid Should Follow LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo - EssentiallySports

Philadelphia 76ers’ talismanic center Joel Embiid has been on a tear lately. After struggling for the better part of last season and missing multiple games, the Cameroonian has stepped up massively this season.

Under new head coach Doc Rivers, Embiid has become the centerpiece for the team. The 4-time All-Star has delivered so far, despite missing 18 games.

In the 40 games he has played, Embiid has averaged 30.1 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game. His impeccable form has made him one of the frontrunners for the MVP trophy.

Analyst makes a bold claim about Joel Embiid

While Embiid might be having one of his best seasons ever in the league, he is still miles away from reaching the level of LeBron James and reigning MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Veteran analyst and broadcaster Doris Burke spoke about the same recently. In an appearance at Duncan Robinson’s the Long Shot podcast, Burke had a rather bold claim about Embiid and his potential.

“If Joel Embiid were as motivated and pursuing greatness the way Giannis Antetokounmpo or LeBron James is… He’d be the most dangerous baddest MF in the NBA. Am I out of my mind? If this guy were in condition, playing hard 48 or however many minutes, and with that level of focus who’d be dealing with this guy.”

While there is no doubting Embiid‘s talent, his motivation for the game was questioned after the Sixers’ collapse last season. But Embiid has shown a different side to his game and looks incredibly focused this season.

If Embiid can perform at this level consistently, he will be a top player in the league very soon. The 76ers organisation and Doc Rivers can play a key role in this.

Despite having a talented point guard like Ben Simmons in their team, Philly have opted to play through Embiid. Given the handful dominant centers in the leagues, Embiid’s increased role in the team has worked wonders in the side.

But with the playoffs coming in, the 76ers will hope that their Cameroonian talisman can prevail. Embiid and the 76ers have a great opportunity to show their talent and dominate the league. Can Embiid win the MVP title and help Philly win the championship?
