A decade in the making, the Nets look set to deliver success in Brooklyn - MARCA.com

It's been a long time coming in Brooklyn, but the Nets finally have a side capable of mounting a serious challenge for their first ever NBA championship in 2021.

Since making the move from New Jersey to Brooklyn in 2012, making the then-newly built Barclays Centre their home, the franchise have struggled more than they would have hoped.

They've had spells filled with hope, notably in 2013 when Paul Pierce arrived from the Boston Celtics and was accompanied by former Celtics teammate Kevin Garnett.

But their current era is to be feared more than any other roster they've put together, and James Harden's controversial arrival was just the icing on the cake.

Elite talent of Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant and DeAndre Jordan all arrived in Brooklyn in 2019, and Harden only adds more class to than line-up.

With NBA championship experience among their ranks, the Nets will be hard to stop in the playoffs, which get underway on May 22. As things stand, their 39-20 record is equalled only by the Philadelphia 76ers, giving them reason to dream of finally celebrating championship success in Brooklyn.

Let's block ads! (Why?)
