The Nets and the Lakers can afford defeats, whilst Real Madrid and Barcelona can't - MARCA.com

Kevin Durant, James Harden, LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Andre Drummond are five NBA stars who all watched their respective teams matches from home on Sunday, with the Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Lakers afforded a luxury that both Barcelona and Real Madrid aren't.

The two NBA teams are the best in the sport at the moment and are likely to meet in the playoffs, however at this stage of the season they can afford to rest players, and if anyone is absent through injury, it isn't a big problem.

It's worth noting that the Nets' famous trio of Harden, Durant and Irving have only played all together from the start on six occasions this season.

There are so many matches in an NBA regular season (82), that defeats can be inconsequential to teams with enough wins in the bank, which both the Nets and Lakers have.

In the Euroleague, Real Madrid and Barcelona's basketball teams feel every loss, with each match essentially a final.

Injuries play a key role every single night, and every result has significance, which is why it's impossible to imagine those two teams resting their stars in the way the Nets and Lakers have been doing.

Let's block ads! (Why?)
