Luka Doncic recorded 31 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists as the Dallas Mavericks beat the Los Angeles Clippers 113-103 in Game 1 of their Western Conference match-up at Staples Center on Saturday night.
The former Real Madrid star is yet to win a playoff series in the NBA, but this is his third triple-double in seven playoff games - and curiously they have all come against the Clippers, who advanced past the Mavs in last year's bubble.
"This is his time of year," Mavs coach Rick Carlisle said on Doncic. "He's one of the smartest basketball players you will ever meet at any age at any level."
Kawhi Leonard and Paul George scored 26 and 23 points respectively, but the Clippers were unable to find their rhythm, shooting just 11/40 from three, as they lost the early advantage in the series.
For the Mavs, Doncic was aided by the scoring efforts of Tim Hardaway Jr (21 points), Dorian Finney-Smith (18 points), Jalen Brunson (15 points) and Kristaps Porzingis (14 points).
Game 2 gets underway on Tuesday night at 04:30 CEST (22:30 ET).
