LeBron James’ Ankle Injury Will Keep Him Out Of Next Two Lakers Games: Reports - Forbes

The Los Angeles Lakers will be without LeBron James for games against the Los Angeles Clippers and Portland Trail Blazers after suffering a setback with his ankle Sunday against Toronto, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

James missed nearly six weeks with a high ankle sprain before returning in Friday’s loss against Sacramento. He left Sunday’s loss to the Raptors with six minutes left in the 4th quarter due to ankle soreness and did not play in Monday’s 93-89 win over Denver.

The Lakers are 28-15 when LeBron is in the lineup this season and 9-13 when he’s out. Los Angeles is a half-game ahead of Dallas for 5th in the Western Conference and a game ahead of Portland with seven games remaining on its regular season schedule. A slip to 7th would place the Lakers in the play-in tournament, which James publicly slammed on Sunday.

“Whoever came up with that sh-t needs to be fired,” he said.

The last seven games will determine whether the Lakers have to compete in the play-in, have a first round re-match of last year’s West finals against Denver or a first round date with their L.A. rivals the Clippers.
