Kawhi Leonard won’t travel with Clippers to Phoenix - Clips Nation

Although it doesn’t come as much of a surprise, Ty Lue confirmed with the media on Sunday that Kawhi Leonard will be OUT for Game 5 on Monday. Leonard, who has been rehabbing from a knee injury, won’t travel with the team to Phoenix.

The Clippers still haven’t ruled out Leonard for the series, but time is running out for him to make an impact. This will be his seventh consecutive missed game after injuring his knee in Game 4 of the second round.

Ty Lue looking to make history again

The Clippers trail the series 3-1. Though it’s not impossible, coming back from a 3-1 deficit is extremely rare. However, the Clippers sadly know a few things about blowing a 3-1 lead. Over the last few years, LA has blown two separate 3-1 leads in the playoffs. You know who else has experience with them? The Clippers’ head coach.

Years ago, Lue rallied the Cavaliers from a 3-1 deficit in the NBA Finals to win the championship against the Warriors.

So, you’re saying there’s a chance?

“Just taking it one game at a time,” Lue said when asked how the Clippers can come back. “You can’t focus on winning three. You have to focus on winning one. It starts quarter by quarter, especially playing on the road right now in Game 5. You have to take it quarter by quarter and try to win each quarter. That’s got to be your mindset. You can’t think about three games and four or five, six days from now. You have to think about tomorrow and just winning quarter by quarter. I think that’s the mindset that I’ve got to make sure our team has going into the game tomorrow.”

The Clippers can surely win three in a row. They won four games in a row in the second round against the Jazz, two of them coming without Leonard. The Clippers have been close in all four games this series. Hell, they could easily be up 3-1 in this series. They have what it takes to win, and they just got to take it one game at a time.
