Team USA guard Bradley Beal could miss the Tokyo Olympics after entering the COVID-19 health and safety protocols.
As reported in The Associated Press, Beal is understood to have been placed under the protocols in Las Vegas at the USA's training base.
As a result, Beal will going into a period of self-isolation and will undergo tests in the following days to determine whether he can travel to Tokyo, or whether he has to miss the Games.
All the players in the squad - as well as their families - have been taking tests during their time in camp, with the aim of making it a bubble.
So this situation comes as a surprise, but one the USA bosses must react to.
If Beal cannot travel, coach Gregg Popovich will at least be able to add someone else to his roster, who hope to bring home the gold.
It's the latest setback in a disastrous few weeks for the Dream Team.
Not only have they suffered two chastening defeats - to Australia and Nigeria - in their recent warm-up matches, but they will also see players join the squad late due to the NBA Finals.
That only makes it harder to create a functioning squad for the Games - something that has often been the downfall of Team USA.
As a result of his self-isolation, Beal will miss his side's final two friendly matches against Australia and Spain.
