The former Ateneo Lady Eagles standout announced on the “Globally Ballin’” podcast Tuesday night, saying that she wanted to focus on her new plans to return to school.
“Volleyball has been a big part of my life,” she said.
“I was planning to go back to school. I’ve given it enough time to just think about it and I really can’t do both since I want to do my best in both.”
Gequillana said she felt she had already achieved enough in volleyball.
“I feel na I am content na with volleyball in a way because it has brought me to the place that I have to be.”
Gequillana thanked her coaches and teammates who have become her family.
“I wouldn’t be her without them,” she said.
Prior to competing in the club league, Gequillana was part of the Ateneo women’s volleyball team that won titles in Season 76, 77 and 81 of the UAAP.
