THE Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) kicks off its first-ever 3X3 tournament on Saturday with all 13 teams playing in the first leg at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Limitless Appmaster of Phoenix Super LPG composed of Filipino-American Brandon Rosser, Mike Gamboa, Jorey Napoles and Reymar Caduyac battles Purefoods TJ Titans of Paolo Javelona, Jed Mendoza, Val Acuna, Antonio Bonsubre and Joseph Eriobu at 2 p.m. in Pool A.

“I am very excited to play 3X3 and show what I have as a player. The PBA is my family. Although I don’t expect too much, I am hoping and praying this 3X3 will help me to return to the PBA’s regular 5-on-5,” Cardona told BusinessMirror on Friday.
Cardona, a former De La Salle gunner, will be teaming up with Al-Daser Esa, Gino Jumao-as, Kyle Neypes, JR Cawaling and Reynaldo Demesa under Coach Joseph Aaron Romarate.

The game is played for a period of 10 minutes, with the first team to score 21 points winning the match.
The top 3 teams in Pool A (five teams) and top 2 teams in Pools B (four teams) and C (four teams) will advance to the playoffs, while the eighth and final berth will be disputed by the third best team in Pool B and C, respectively, in a do-or-die match.
