After subpar performances in the last two games, Paul Lee shrugged off his sprained ankle and delivered a gutsy performance, scoring 17 points including consecutive buckets late in the game that the put the Bolts away. The win means the series is now tied at 2-2, and the two teams will scrap again on Friday for the last ticket to the finals, and the right to face off against Barangay Ginebra.
“No more tomorrow, that’s the mentality,” said Magnolia head coach Chito Victolero. “We just tried to live one game at a time and pinag-usapan lang namin is possession by possession. We need to grind possession by possession on both ends of the floor.”Magnolia import Mike Harris had a monster game with 34 points and 18 rebounds while Calvin Abueva filled the stat-sheet up with 11 points, eight boards, three dimes, and two steals.
The Hotshots found themselves in trouble early, trailing by 11, before overhauling the deficit with a 13-3 run to close out the first half on top, 42-30.
Meralco got 22 points and 16 rebounds from the import Tony Bishop while Chris Newsome added 11 markers. (JNP)
