Grizzlies anger, protests and bitterness dont stop Ja Morant to be almost out for Game 4 vs. Warriors - Marca English

The Memphis Grizzlies proved during the final month of the regular season that they were not relying on their best player, Ja Morant, to keep them in second place in the Western Conference and in record in the entire NBA, however, the injury absence of the spectacular point guard could prove costly as they head into the playoffs.

Morant went out with a right knee injury midway through the fourth period during Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals against the Golden State Warriors and, according to his own coach, his chances of playing in Game 4 are not very good.

Taylor Jenkins' words

"There is a really good chance he (Morant) doesn't play tomorrow," Memphis coach Taylor Jenkins said.

The series has Golden State ahead 2-1 and Game 4 will take place next Monday night in San Francisco, so without Morant, a loss looks more likely, which would put the Grizzlies on the brink of a painful elimination.

Every playoff meeting between these two teams has involved foul play by both teams that has included flagrant fouls, ejections and suspensions, yet Morant's incident, which was against Jordan Poole, has gone unpunished.

Unsuccessful protest by the Grizzlies

Poole appeared to take Morant's knee with 6:19 minutes to play, however, after a complaint from Zach Kleiman, vice president of basketball operations for the Grizzlies to the NBA, the response was negative, because the league considered it a normal basketball play.

"Just trying to be matter of fact here," Jenkins said. "This is what Ja says. This is what our medical team has said after reviewing the play. Ja was playing great and feeling great all game. The grab of the knee is what triggered the potential injury and why we took Ja out of the game. So, nothing has changed from there in terms of that was the play that triggered this."

Adblock test (Why?)
