Turk Pettit, Travis Smyth, Wade Ormsby, and LIV Golf players will head the third International Series tournament on the Asian Tour. The event features a 156-player field and is the final event of the 2023 campaign for the Tour. The top 65 players and ties are cut after 36 holes to play in the tournament’s final two rounds. Those competitors who complete all four rounds of the event will receive payment. This year’s competition is being held at Thailand’s Black Mountain Golf Club, and big bucks are on the line.
Prize money and breakdown of International Series Thailand 2023
Australian golfer, Travis Smyth, had to withdraw after the first round last year at Black Mountain. But this year, he is more than happy to return to Thailand. Expressing his feelings, he said, “We’re in paradise. The weather is amazing; it’s not too hot.” He was happy to be near the ocean and playing a little golf on the side this week. However, the 28-year-old golfer has gained two top 10s from three events this season and was confident about his chances. “I wouldn’t be surprised if I were to win this week,” he said. Currently, he is not in the top five on the leaderboard, and Dodge Kemmer is leading.

The stakes are high, but many more things are on the line. Beyond money, there are important perks and benefits of winning the event. The winner of this event will get added to their Order of Merit tally. It is crucial for golfers to have access to tournaments and bonuses. The winner gets 7.3 Official World Golf Ranking points. However, the points available are based on field strength. Winning comes with other big benefits, including a two-plus season exemption on the Asian Tour.
What are the updates about the event?
Taichi Kho carded a six-under 66 in the first round of International Series Thailand on Thursday. The Hongkonger was an early clubhouse leader at Black Mountain. It was before Miguel Tabuena, and Dodge Kemmer fired off identical rounds of 64. As a result, they left themselves a shot clear of Thailand’s Jazz Janewattananond and Kiradech Aphibarnrat.
Ten days after flying to Queenstown as the first alternate for the NZ Open. It ultimately turned out to be two practice rounds and plenty of time on the putting green at Millbrook Resort. According to Kho, he did not feel any added pressure from being in the paid ranks. “I feel pretty comfortable with it. At the end of the day, it’s me progressing my own game and that doesn’t change whether you’re an amateur or a professional. So, trying to stay true to that and having a lot of fun out here.”
