Rafael Nadal beat Flavio Cobolli at the Barcelona Open on Tuesday (April 16) in his first tournament since January and first appearance on clay since the 2022 French Open.
The Spaniard ran out a comfortable 6-2 6-3 winner over Italian Cobolli to set up a round of 16 match against Australia's Alex de Minaur.
Second seed Andrey Rublev of Russia crashed out of the tournament with the world number eight beaten 6-4 7-6(6) by 22-year-old American Brandon Nakashima.
Spaniard Jaume Munar eased through with a 6-3 6-1 victory over Yoshihito Nishioka of Japan.
