As the Philadelphia 76ers now prepare for Game 4 of their Round 2 series with the Atlanta Hawks on Monday, they might have to head into the game without a key piece in Danny Green. The veteran left their Game 3 win on Friday due to a right calf strain and coach Doc Rivers doubts he plays in Game 4.

Rivers did start Furkan Korkmaz to begin the second half on Friday and one can assume that he will start the game on Monday in place of Green. He had a playoff career-high 14 points in Game 3 and his shooting could make difference.

“I don’t know the situation about Danny right now, but it doesn’t matter who is out,” Korkmaz explained. “We just need to step up, I just need to step up if I need to and I will do it, I’m ready.”

Korkmaz started 11 games during the regular season and he shot 37% from deep and averaged 12.7 points. He understands his role with the starting unit as a guy who can shoot the ball from deep and provide some more floor spacing.

“I don’t think there’s any better motivation than starting the game because you know you are going to be getting in the game,” Korkmaz added. “You need to set the tone with the starters and then you need to be good. That makes you motivated.”

Due to what Korkmaz brings to the table, and how similar it is to Green’s role on the offensive end, it won’t be too much of an adjustment for the fourth-year guard out of Turkey. While he is not the defender that Green is, he continues to make strides on that end and it will be seamless for him to slide in his place

“I also know how to play with the first unit,” Korkmaz finished. “I’m really used to it. I don’t think it’s gonna be so hard for me to adjust, I’ve been doing that all year. I’m excited about it, but also from the other side, I hope Danny is going to recover well.”

The Sixers will look to take a 3-1 lead with them back to Philadelphia if they can get another win over the Hawks on Monday.
